Tom Bernhardt

 

Tom was born in Miami, Florida on October 28, 1974.He graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in 1993. Tom was drafted out of high school by the New York Yankees but decided to go to college instead. He was a member of the LSU baseball team for four years winning one National Championship during his tenure. At the end of Tom’s senior season, he was drafted by the Chicago Cubs and signed his first professional contract. He played in the Cubs organization for two years before turning his playing career into a coaching career. He has dedicated the past 11 years towards teaching the game of baseball to young men in the Baton Rouge area. Tom resides in Baton Rouge with his wife M.E. and two daughters.

 

Tom’s Achievements

  • 1993 Voted Miami High School Baseball Player of the Year
  • 1993 In his Senior Season he led the entire Miami area in Batting Average (515) & Homeruns (10)
  • 1993 Inducted into Columbus Sports High School Hall of Fame
  • 1993 Drafted by New York Yankees but declined to play at LSU
  • 1994 Selected to try out for Olympic Team
  • 1994-1997 Lettered for the LSU Baseball Team
  • 1997 Made Regional All Tournament Team & led all players with a 440 batting average and 3 home runs
  • 1997 Made College World Series All Tournament Team
  • 1997 Led all players in the World Series Tournament with a 615 batting average
  • 1997 Drafted by Chicago Cubs
  • 1997-1998 Played in Chicago Cubs Organization
