Brett Laxton

 

Brett Laxton was born October 5, 1973 in Audubon ,NJ. He is the son of Bill and Cheryl Laxton and has two brothers, Todd and Josh, who both went on to play college baseball. His father, Bill pitched four years in the Big Leagues with Seattle, Detroit, Cleveland, Philadelphia and San Diego, and collected the first win in the King Dome for the Seattle Mariners. Brett attended Audubon High School where he played baseball, football and basketball. He was drafted in  1992 by the San Diego Padres in the 4th round, but chose to attend LSU to play collegiate baseball. In 1996 he began a 10 year professional career. Brett now resides in Denham Springs, Louisiana, with his wife Heather and daughters Cami & Lilly.

  • 1990 led state of New Jersey in hitting with a .545 batting average
  • 1991 American Legion World Series Champions
  • 1993 LSU All American Honors
  • 1993 Freshman College Player of the Year
  • 1993 recorded a 12-1 record with a 1.98 ERA
  • Member of three LSU College World Series Teams
  • Member of 1993 and 1996 LSU National Championship Teams
  • 1993 championship game-winning pitcher - pitched complete game shutout against Wichita State, setting a CWS record of 16 strikeouts
  • 1996 drafted and signed by Oakland A's
  • 1999 Triple-A Pitcher of the Year
  • Member of 1999 Triple-A World Series Championship Team
  • June 1999 Major League debut with Oakland A's
  • 2000 traded to Kansas City Royals
  • 2000 pitched in big leagues with Kansas City
  • 2000 & 2001 top 5 ERA in Venezuela Winter League
  • 2005 Atlantic League Pitcher of the Year recording a 15-2 record with a 14 game winning streak
